We've moved!

On top of that, we've had some failures of hardware and we're still in a flux in terms of physical relocation. All the stuff you used to find is still here, but just may take a while to get back up.

Our group is has moved from the University of Washington to the State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo since I decided to take up a leadership position as Professor and Division Chief of Bioinformatics in the Department of Biomedical Informatics. (I will remain an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington.) Even though the official move of my position was effective October 1, 2014, my computing cluster was just packed and loaded a couple of weeks ago and should arrive next week. About 1300+ cores from my cluster will be merged with the computing at the Center for Computational Research.

I will try to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible, and ensure that all our servers are reachable during the transition period, but I expect there will be some glitches and missing files. Please bear with us during this period.

We will be expanding our department and my division and as I get settled in, we will recruit new faculty members who'd be interested in joining us. There are some great benefits to working in the medical school here that is not usually found elsewhere. My group also will be rebooting and as I get settled in, I plan to continue to expand as I had before. All this will happen gradually over the next few years.

While I enjoyed my time in Seattle, and had a great time there, I have to say that I'm really enjoying being in a smaller city and Buffalo is going through a remarkable transformation, which I am happy to be a part of. We're living on a place on Lake Ontario in Youngstown with a view of the water and the Toronto skyline in the distance, so it's somewhat similar to our former place on the Puget Sound in Mukilteo with a view of the Olympics though this time we can actually go to the water and live on about 1.5 acres of park-like land (with its own zip line even!). While it is colder here (an UnderArmour Jacket is my clothing of choice), it is also sunnier and I've always said snow is preferable to rain.
